Putting a Job On Hold

Paused / On-Hold jobs are designed to keep work moving when progress is temporarily blocked. If work cannot continue due to parts, access, approvals, or safety requirements, the job can be placed on hold instead of being closed. The job remains open, clearly marked with what is being waited on, and can be resumed as soon as the blocker is cleared, with no loss of progress or SLA time.

When should a job be put on hold?

Pause a job when work cannot continue for a genuine, short-term reason outside your control. This might be due to awaiting parts, client approval, site access, or permits. Using On Hold makes it clear that the job is active but temporarily paused, rather than forgotten or delayed without explanation.

How do you place a job on Pause or On Hold ?

Open the job you want to pause from the All Work orders page and select edit. Change the Job Status to Paused / On Hold.

You’ll then be prompted to select a hold reason and add a short note explaining why the job cannot proceed. This note provides context for anyone reviewing the job and helps avoid unnecessary follow-ups.

Once confirmed, the job is marked as On Hold and all SLA timers are automatically paused until the job is resumed.

Where is the hold information recorded?

When a job is placed on hold, the hold status and reason are displayed directly on the job for immediate visibility. Full details are also recorded in the Notes & Progress tab, including the hold reason, supporting notes, and the date and time the job was paused. This ensures everyone involved can clearly see why the job is on hold and provides a complete record for future reference.

How do you resume a job?

When the blocker has been resolved, resume the job from the Actions menu. The job returns to the normal workflow and SLA timers continue from the same point they were paused.

Summary

In Arez, Paused / On-Hold jobs help you manage work that cannot continue right now. The job stays open, the reason is clearly recorded, and SLAs are paused until the issue is resolved. Once ready, the job can be resumed and work continues as normal.
